The Titans have a wide mix of lads playing on the squad, with various ages, backgrounds and levels of experience. Some of our lads are a bit shy about being mentioned on the website (ah bless) so below are some, but not all of the player profiles…..

The Forwards
Generally bigger and stronger than the “backs”, they are involved in securing the ball, main tacklers and are used to gain possession through rucking, mauling and lineouts. A tight knit group, the Titans forward pack work as a strong unit to take down the opposition and gain/retain possession of the ball.

Name: Trevor aka Warhorse.
Hometown: Dublin
Position: No 8 (Back Row)
Trevor has been living in Belfast since 2006 and is one of the founding members of the Ulster Titans. An aggressive, strong player, he loves nothing more than being part of the forward pack, competing for the ball and taking down other players. He takes great pleasure being involved in the club, both on and off the pitch.

Name: Neil aka Neiller / Wee Neil
Hometown: Belfast
Position: Hooker (front Row)
Neil is a Belfast boy, born and bred. Enthusiastic, gregarious and committed Neil has been a very involved member of the club since joining. On the pitch he is motivating, strong and determined with an optimistic and infectious attitude towards the game. He has many passions but none feature more than rugby, gladiators and eurovision.

Name: Niall
Hometown: Belfast
Position: Flanker (Openside)
Niall is an intelligent player with a quick eye for the game and plays. A key player in the forward pack, he is excellent at securing the ball at breakdown. Sarcastic, bright and articulate, he is a committed member of the squad.

Name: Sean
Hometown: Belfast
Position: Second Row or Flanker
Sean is a man for getting stuck in, driving forward where possible and is active in nearly all of the rucks, mauls, scrums and lineouts. A social, friendly and well liked lad, his charming demeanour off the pitch hides his dogged determination and last man standing attitude on the pitch. Also one of the founding members of the club, Sean’s heart is in the club.

Name: Dickie
Hometown: Belfast
Position: Prop
A motivating player, Dickie believes in pushing on his team members in a focused and positive way. He is the one always looking to see how things can be improved before, during and after the game. A fastidious character with real strength behind him, Dickie is not one to be messed with.

The Backs
Usually the fastest players on the pitch, they are the main try scorers in the game. Agile with good ball handling skills, the backs are the glory boys of rugby.

Name: Duncan
Hometown: Glasgow
Position: Scrum Half
Quick, sharp, aggressive and easily able to take down men twice his size Duncan is an ideal scrum half. Quick on the uptake and able to command the team, Duncan’s ability to read the game and make decisions on play is second to none.

Name: Greg
Hometown: Belfast
Position: Fly Half
Lightning fast, agile with an excellent range and technical ability behind each kick, Greg is the main link between the scrum half and the rest of the backs. Another sharp player, he is always eager to show what he can do with the ball.

Name: Paul
Hometown: Belfast
Position: Inside Centre
One of our larger backs, Paul is usually involved in bringing the ball forward or in the breakdowns if by chance a forward hasn’t got there in time. Always gaining ground, Paul will fight to make use of the space as effectively as possible and is excellent at maintaining possession on the pitch.

Name: Tight Buns The Titans Bunny aka Tight
Hometown: Warrensville
Position: Mascot
The mascot is a person, animal, or object believed to bring good luck, especially one kept as the symbol of an organization such as a sports team.
 
Tight joined the Titans during the Bingham Cup tour in June 2008.  An outgoing type of rabbit, Tight was an immediate hit with the Titans, children and spectators as well as the other teams at Bingham – he even had the French team serenading him with a French song about a rabbit!!!  Tight is an enthusiastic mascot who takes his duties seriously (but not too seriously) and “tries” to make an appearance at most team events.
